Request for Proposals for Right-of-Way Brushing
Scope of Work: Clearing right-of-ways in the town so that afterwards they can be maintained with an industrial mower.
The bid must contain:
• Hourly rate for chipping, cutting, spraying and stump treatment
• Type of equipment you will be using.
• Proof of Insurance
• Any additional charges
Additional Information:
• The number of road miles to be brushed will vary from year to year depending on the budget and the need.
• Town of Fulton has a total of 63 miles of road.
• Invoicing needs to be turned into the Fulton Town Hall office on a weekly basis. Payment will be on a monthly basis.
• This will be an annual renewable contract.
• The chips should be left in a manner where vegetation can continue to grow.
• Wis. Stat. 66.1037 states in part that “the authority (town board) shall remove, cut, trim, or consent to the removing, cutting, trimming of any tree, shrub, or vegetation in order to provide safety to users of the highway.” It is the town’s duty to provide safe roads; therefore, if it is found that vegetation creates hazardous conditions, it must be removed.
• Company hired will contact property owners to see if they want the wood from cut down trees. If owner doesn’t want the wood, removal is required by the contracted company.

Please send proposals marked “Right-of-Way Brushing” to Connie Zimmerman, Clerk/Treasurer, Town of Fulton, 2738 W Fulton Center Dr., Edgerton, WI 53534 prior to March 3, 2010. The Town reserves the right to accept or reject any and/or all proposals, to waive any technicality, or accept any proposal which it deems advantageous.
